Erik Jan Hanussen was known as "Hitler's Nostradamus" and "Prophet of the Third Reich." In the early '30s, Hanussen founded a tabloid publishing empire that blended occult belief with radical politics. In 1932, he predicted that Adolf Hitler, then reeling from a series of electoral setbacks, would soon rule Germany as an unfettered and extralegal dictator. Hanussen's relationship with the National Socialists ended when German Communist journalists revealed the Berlin clairvoyant's Jewish origins. He was murdered in April 1933.
